Settlement reached in Rockford nursing home lawsuit

A Rockford man’s lawsuit against a nursing home, where he fell last year and fractured all four limbs, has ended in a settlement.

An attorney for Karl Adamik filed the lawsuit on Nov. 22 in Winnebago County Circuit Court against Forest City Rehab & Nursing Center, 321 Arnold Ave., Rockford. The lawsuit sought more than $50,000 in damages, the benchmark for filing such a lawsuit.

Court records obtained on Thursday state the lawsuit was dismissed on Sept. 26 by Circuit Judge Edward Prochaska after a settlement was reached. A hearing was scheduled for that date to check on the case after it was slated to go before a mediator.

Adamik’s attorney, Craig M. Sandberg, confirmed on Thursday that Adamik still is living at the nursing home. He declined further comment, saying the settlement terms are confidential....
