A federal judge Thursday ordered that Chicago police Superintendent Garry McCarthy answer questions as part of a federal lawsuit over a fatal shooting last summer by a police officer.
Last October the Tribune wrote about the officer, Gildardo Sierra, after he shot three men — two fatally — in separate incidents in a six-month period. McCarthy had told the Tribune that the first two shootings were justified, but that the officer should have been taken off the street before the third shooting . . .
. . . In court filings, attorney Craig Sandberg, who represents Farmer's girlfriend, made it clear he wants to question McCarthy about his comments about the officer to the Tribune editorial board last October . . .
NOTE: Supt. Garry McCarthy's deposition was taken by Mr. Sandberg on October 31, 2012.
