This case involves the shooting of M-18 due to the alleged actions of then 15- year old Defendant Devonte Smith at approximately 3:05 p.m. on March 7, 2008 at Crane Tech Prep Common School a/k/a Crane Tech High School located at 2245 West Jackson Boulevard in Chicago’s Near West Side, which resulted in injuries to Plaintiff and, subsequently, to his death on March 7, 2008 (pronounced at 3:44 p.m. by Dr. Kimberly Joseph at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County). Devonte Smith, as a result of the incident outside Crane Tech High School, was charged with one (1) count of first-degree murder in the matter of People v. Smith, Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, Case No. 08 CR 6927.
